Final Project
Getting Started
You are about to start learning how to calculate the mean, median, and mode of a set of numbers (or data).  Since there are not any appropriate online activities, you will be doing most of the activities using paper/pencil.  You will, however, be allowed to use a calculator on most of the assignments!

Homework will be Accelerated Math Practice Sheets calculating the  mean, median, and mode.

Activities
Given sets of data, you will learn to compute the mean, median, and mode with 80% accuracy or better.  Below is a list of the activities you will be assigned in order to assist you in mastering these concepts.

Day 1
Classroom Activity ~ Pre-Test - Mean, Median, & Mode

                                    Measures of Central Tendencies

You will be given a copy of the Measures of Central Tendencies which has definitions and examples of the three types of average (measures of central tendency) - mean (also known as average), median, and mode. This page is to be added to your "Math Binder" and can be used as a reference.  You will also be given a slip of paper with your current math grades on it to average.  A calculator may be used to assist you in calculating your average math grade.

Day 2
Classroom Activity ~ Worksheet 1 - Mean

Day 3
Classroom Activity ~ Worksheet 2 - Median

Day 4
Classroom Activity ~ Worksheet 3 - Mean

Homework  ~ Accelerated Math (10 problems on mean)

Day 5
Classroom Activity ~ Worksheet 4 - Mean & Median

Homework  ~ Accelerated Math (10 problems on mean and 10 problems on mode)

Day 6
Classroom Activity ~ Worksheet 5 - Mean, Median, & Mode

Homework  ~ Accelerated Math (10 problems on mean and 10 problems on mode)

Day 7
Classroom Activity ~ Worksheet 6 - Mean, median, & Mode

Homework  ~ Accelerated Math (6 problems on mean, 6 problems on mode, & 6 problems on mode)

Final

Day 8
Classroom Activity ~ Culminating Activity - Favorite Summer Activities Poll

The class will be surveyed as to what your favorite summertime activities are (i.e. skateboarding, swimming, reading...).  This list will be written on an overhead and you will copy it.  We will then poll the class as to what activities you would like to do during the coming summer.  (You may indicate more than one activity).  Everyone will then take the accumulated data and figure the classroom's mean, median, and mode.

Homework  ~ Accelerated Math (6 problems on mean, 6 problems on mode, & 6 problems on mode)

Day 9
Classroom Activity ~ Post Test
