Introduction
Students will begin by learning searching techniques
to target one web site. Students will learn how to critically evaluate
Web pages for authenticity, applicability, authorship, bias and usability.
The students will focus on one web site to present their findings,
whether positive or negative.

Given a list of student-developed
topics, students will use search engines, (i.e.
AltaVista, Lycos and Yahoo) to gather relevant web sites.

From the list of web sites students
will choose one site to evaluate.

Students will be able to identify
the criteria used when analyzing a web site after reading Kathy Schrock's
"The
ABC's of Web Site Evaluation".

Students will critique their identified
site based on the web evaluation criteria and complete Kathy
Schrock's Evaluation Survey for that site.

Students will create a multimedia
presentation (Power Point and/or Internet) using the results of their web
site evaluation survey and present it to an audience of peers.

Students will watch the 60
minute video clip, followed by a discussion on the validy of information
on the Internet. Students will complete the pre-analysis worksheet to begin
thinking about the topic they will use in their web page search and how
they will begin to search.

web sites by completing a tutorial on boolean search skills. (search
