Getting
Started
We are going to start a project about
famous people. The first thing we are going to do is take a pretest
to see what you already know about famous people. (To open
this file you need to use either internet explorer or netscape 6 or higher.)
Famous People Pretest
After we take the pretest we will watch
a video about a famous person. Over the next few months, we will
read some books and watch some more videos about many different people.
You will also look up some people on the internet.
Activities
Day
1
Classroom Activity:
You need to choose a famous person to
research. You may look through the biography books or other resources
in the classroom or library. You may also choose someone we don't
have information on, if you have some at home you can bring in. (If
there is not enough information available, you will need to choose a different
person.) Please tell me who you are interested in researching before
you go home today.
Homework:
See what you can find about your person
at home. Tomorrow we will start looking at school.
Day
2
Classroom Activity:
Find either a book, a pre-screened
web site, or software. You need to look through the information to
find answers to the power point requirements. ( Power
Point Requirements ) (To open this
file you need to use either internet explorer or netscape 6 or higher.)
You may wish to use the worksheet to help
fill the requirements. (
Power Point Worksheet) (To open
this file you need to use either internet explorer or netscape 6 or higher.)
Day
3
Classroom Activity:
Continue research. You may need
to get some help from me or an aide to get all the information you need.
After you have found all the information you need, you may begin writing
your rough draft.
Day
4
Classroom Activity:
Write your rough
draft. Have three students edit your work. After three students
have edited your work, have an adult edit your work. When your paper
has been edited by an adult, take a piece of nice writing paper and rewrite
your paper in your best handwriting and make an illustration for your project.
Final
Project
Days 5-7
Final Activity:
Take your final draft paper to the computer.
Open the power point program. Type your paper on a slide. After
it is typed, edit the slide. Once the type is correct you may add
pictures, sound, backgrounds, and animation.

Now that you have learned
about many different famous people, you need to take the final
test. (To open this
file you need to use either internet explorer or netscape 6 or higher.)
