An octopus is truly an amazing animal

You can use this page to find out more about the octopus.
 This web page will help you learn and re-learn some of the information about  the octopus.  You will have some activities to explore and also some links to find other items about our eight legged friends.

Reading Activity(ies)

Octopus Fact File:

* The octopus is a mollusk, an invertebrate animal in the same catagory as clams, slugs, snails, and squids. Although it evolved from a snail-like ancestor, at some point the octopus lost its shell.

* Like the eyes of vertebrates, octopuses' eyes have cornea, iris, and retina. Experiments show that their eyes are capable of shape discrimination, which may contribute to their ability to learn simple tasks.

Your last job.
Now you need to write a "sloppy copy" story about the octopus.
The story needs to have a beginning.
Make sure you have at least 4 important details in the story.
The story needs to have an end.
  • name on paper
  • date on paper
  • cubby number on paper
  • use the word wall and your book for important words.
  • have fun


Assessment
The children will make a folder of their completed work.  The folder must be turned in to the teacher after they complete each of the activities.  Activity 3 is a diving octopus project that must be demonstrated to the teacher.
                            Rubric Score:
                            4  Successful completion of all (8) eight activities then each page    printed and and neatly organized in a folder , decoratated and a title.  Then answer the questions on the Grade page.

                            3  Completion of all activities and turned in a folder.

                              2  Some of the activities completed (between 2 and 5 ).

                              1  Only 1 or  2 activities completed. 
 
 


 
 

Results
