Welcome!
How would you like to read better, comprehend more of what you read, and get better grades? Then start this Duolog odyssey with a classroom peer.

Duolog is a reading technique whereby a lower level reader is paired with a higher level reader to read core literature and extended literature orally and in unison.  Reading will be done online and in core and extended reading materials.  The higher level student has four seconds to correct a reading mistake by the lower level reader.  If neither can correct the mistake in pronunciation, the word is written down for futher review. The pair will compile a list of vocabulary words over the five week period.  Then the pair continues to read.

  • In this lesson students will research the Internet for fables, fairytales and short stories.   They will choose at least ten short selections.
  • They will also research the Internet for reading and vocabulary help, and do online reading with their Duolog partner.
  • Over the next five weeks they and their duolog partner will read(on days which the teacher has set) two selections per week.
  • They will read orally and in unison. This process, though slow at first, will improve in speed and accuracy as they and their partner get used to the duolog process.
Mission:
  • This lesson is designed to aid students in improving their reading scores on standardized tests through oral reading, increasing comprehension, vocabulary building, word clue recognition, context clue recognition, and using correct pronunciation.
