  • students will name members of word families from memory rapidly
  • students will decode multisyllabic words based on knowledge of basic and advanced word family recognition

  • do a pretest the day prior to the lesson which will be a two minute brainstorm of the word families to be taught
  • brainstorm as a class sion, ture, tive and tion word endings in groups of four
  • read words brainstormed to a partners

"English Practice" is an easy to use site with weekly lessons, games, chats, and cultural lessons. All activites are accesible from the home page. There are also contests, weekly e-mail lessons, and karaoke activities.

English Space
"English Space" is a site set up as a game in outer space, rich graphics and activities for beginning English learners. Membership is free, after registering you are sent on travels, choosing activities such as memory tricks, parts of speech, and word sorting. The site is wonderful for children, it's set up as a video game. Versions are offered in English, Japanese, and Spanish. Younger children may need help navigating the site.
