An oral presentation is the culminating activity for the Cultural "I AM" Speech Project.  It is designed to provide students experience in preparing and delivering a presentation on ideas, premises, or images obtained from a variety of sources.  Students may chose to make a 'live presentation' or video their speech to be presented to either the English or U. S. History class.

Activities

Students will be developing their speeches on the individual chosen for their issue file, bio-board and biographical essay. The following activities are provided to guide the students in the process of developing their oral presentation.

Introductory Activity

The purpose of this activity is to expose students to speeches given by famous Americans of the twentieth century and to give students the opportunity to use the Internet resources.

The students will choose two famous speeches via the Internet to view and critique using the rubric for oral presentations.

 Classroom Activity

The students will be guided through the process for writing and giving an oral presentation. The classroom teacher will use How to Give a Presentation for the class using Power Point.  This program can also be used for review by individual students.  

Culminating Activity

Students will develop and present their oral presentation which will be assessed using the scoring guide.
