Math 7: Stadiums of America

Stadiums In America

Play Ball

Welcome

When does a stadium fit inside a notebook page? What is the math involved?  On a map, when does one inch equal 45 miles?  Who decides that?  Why doesn't an inch equal 200 miles?  Or does it?
In this upcoming activity you will be exploring the concepts of proportion and ratio.  You will be investigating the process by which the scales on maps are calculated

You will be working both on the computer and on your desk to come up with the answers to the questions previously given.  Once you find those answers you will present your findings to your colleagues.

Your Mission
Tell students how you want them to use the lesson web site. Also tell students what they will know and /or be able to do at the completion of the lesson. Whenever possible, make the learning outcomes relevant to the students. Encourage and build confidence.
