    Student Activities
Students will begin with a pretest to reveal their prior knowledge of the elements of culture.  After the pretest, students will be given the information they need about each element that were missed.

An in-class hands-on activity will follow to allow students to experience an archeologist's task to determine and classify artifacts.

Next, through browsing the hotlist of internet sites provided in this lesson,  students will gather at least one artifact for each element of culture for a particular ancient civilization.

Finally, for each artifact collected, students will describe it and relate its relevance to the element of culture.  These artifacts will become exhibits for our virtual museum.

    Introductory Activity

    1.)  Administer the PRE-TEST.

2.)  Students are given a study guide of the elements of a culture.  In small groups of 3 or 4,  students are given a number of objects or pictures of objects that are not familiar to them. Students are asked to identify each object and classify them according to its use in a culture.  Time is given for discussion.
